My exhibit of interactive, collaborative, and animated artworks made especially for (and in) Second Life opened Friday night. We tiered reception hours so as not to overload the sim, which worked out great. The European opening at 10 BST was the first and best attended. I received great feedback from avatars Plum, Kumi, and Henrietta just to name a few.
The East coast opening at 9pm EST was attended by real life friends BigRed, Starr, and Rad, as well as SL art stars Nubulosus and Arahan. By then, everyone was very interested in collaborating and adding to the animated slide players on each side of the ReCon(Text) artwork.
The SL, West Coast opening at 9pm PDT, was least attended but fun nonetheless. Thanks to Neosus who added a lot of creative images and curators In and Viva for stopping
by.If you missed the reception, there will be an artist talk in a few weeks (date and time still TBA). It will be podcast using either skypecast or talkshoe. I hope you can make it.
I was recently the Design in the Spotlight in the Second Life Magazine the Avastar.
Although the interview went well, the journalist conducting the interview did not have much interest or perhaps education in art. Hence, the article is quite laughable as many of the details of my work were misrepresented.
My first gallery opening in Second Life was a big success. I met many new people from all over the world and even connected with some friends from another part of the country. Hope everyone had a good time.
I will have another SL event in March as I bring the wall comic "ReCon(Text) #1" into Second Life as an interactive virtual environment installation.
